Social Bicycles can read many RFID-enabled smart cards and link them to be your Social Bicycles member card (such as municipal transportation, library, or employer cards). You can sync these cards to your account for use as your access key to unlock bikes instead of scanning the QR code with the mobile app or using the card issued by your bike share program. This can be a convenient way to cut down on card clutter in your wallet. If you think you have a compatible card, follow the steps below to sync your card during the rental.
- Install the SoBi mobile app.
- Login to your account with the SoBi mobile app.
- Rent a bicycle by scanning the QR code.
- On the rental screen swipe up to open the bottom container. Scroll to the very bottom of it, where you will find a button 'Sync RFID card'.
- After clicking on the 'Sync RFID card' button, the server sends a request to the bike controller to begin syncing procedure.
- As soon as the controller beeps, you have 60 seconds to tap your card to the keypad of the controller.
- If the controller reads your card properly, you will hear another beep sound. If no sound is made, the controller cannot read your card, and you will not be able to sync it.
- If the controller has properly read your card, check the mobile app again, where you should see success screen. You can then enter the name for the card and confirm syncing
